Five days in Accra is enough to taste the city, settle into the rhythm, and collect stories. It is not enough to do absolutely everything, and that is fine. We are planning a trip, not running an Olympic event in linen.
Day 1: land, breathe, settle
Book airport pickup, check into your stay, shower, eat, and let your body catch up. If you want a soft evening, do dinner or a light city drive. Do not schedule your most ambitious activity for arrival day. Jet lag has hands.
Day 2: markets and fabric
Do Makola Market or a guided shopping day. Look at fabric, beads, baskets, food, and everyday city life. If you want custom outfits, choose fabric and start the tailor process early.
Day 3: food and city life
Build the day around Ghanaian food: local breakfast, street snacks, grilled fish, jollof, kelewele, or whatever your appetite can responsibly manage. Add a relaxed cafe, museum, art stop, or neighborhood walk.
Do not stack every day from sunrise to midnight. Accra traffic will humble that spreadsheet.
Day 4: heritage, nature, or beach
Choose one bigger experience: Cape Coast, waterfalls, a beach day, or a cultural visit. Start early and keep the evening flexible. Big day trips need breathing room.
Day 5: glow-up, pickup, and final moments
Use the last day for fittings, braids, beauty, photos, gifts, or a final meal. Do not leave shopping, tailoring, and packing for the final two hours unless you enjoy unnecessary suspense.
The Experience Ghana can turn this into a hosted plan around your dates, your stay, and the kind of Ghana story you want to live.
